Average response time: under 24 hours

Diamond blades are rated by surface speed, not raw RPM. The safe working range is 40-80 m/s (7,900-15,700 surface feet per minute). For a 7-inch blade that means roughly 5,000-8,000 RPM; for a 12-inch blade, roughly 3,000-4,700 RPM. Always follow the maximum RPM printed on the blade.
A 4-inch blade spinning at 6,000 RPM moves its edge far slower than a 14-inch blade at the same RPM. What actually matters is the surface speed of the diamond segments, calculated as RPM x blade circumference. If the surface speed is too low, the blade polishes instead of cutting; too high, and the bond overheats and the diamonds dull quickly.
Here is a practical starting chart for concrete cutting with diamond saw blades:
These assume a standard concrete-cutting bond. Softer concrete (green, low PSI) cuts better at the lower end of the range; hard, aged concrete benefits from the upper end.
If the blade glazes over and stops cutting, surface speed is too low or the bond is too hard for the material. If the segments turn blue or the blade vibrates, the speed is too high and you risk a cracked core. Reduce feed pressure, let the blade reach full speed before entering the cut, and never force a stalled blade.
A: No. Tile blades are thin and brittle and rated for low surface speeds. Cutting concrete with one can shatter the core.
A: The diamonds rub instead of cut, glaze over, and the blade stops cutting. Stop, sharpen the blade with an abrasive block, and increase RPM.
A: No. Stay inside the blade's rated range. Above that range the bond wears too fast and the blade may flex and crack.
Match surface speed to your blade diameter, keep the RPM inside the printed rating, and let the blade reach full speed before every cut. Do that and your diamond blades will cut faster and last noticeably longer.
