If your joint or opening is deeper than 115 mm, you have three options:
Forcing the cut past the rated depth pinches the blade, overheats the core, and can warp or crack it. A warped blade vibrates badly and is dangerous. If the cut keeps binding, you have likely hit a rebar or gone too deep.
A: No. The flange diameter is fixed by the saw manufacturer for safety. Reducing it is dangerous and voids the blade warranty.
A: Marginally, because the segment adds a few mm. The rated depth is based on the full diameter; as the blade wears down 20-30 mm, depth drops by a few mm.
