The standard grit sequence for polished concrete is 50 → 100 → 200 → 400 → 800 → 1500 → 3000. Start at 50 only when the floor needs material removal; start at 200–400 for maintenance polishing. Move to the next grit only when the scratches from the previous one are uniformly removed.
| Job Type | Starting Grit | Sequence |
|---|---|---|
| Full grind and polish (new slab) | 50–100 | 50, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500, 3000 |
| Maintenance / light restoration | 200–400 | 200, 400, 800, 1500, 3000 |
| Gloss boost after densifier | 800 | 800, 1500, 3000 + burnish |
A: Skipping more than one step usually leaves visible scratches. In maintenance work you can start at 200, but do not jump from 200 to 800.
A: No. Most commercial floors stop at 800–1500. Use 3000 for decorative, showroom-level gloss.
A: Plan roughly one set per machine per 400–600 m², depending on hardness. Test a small area first.
Follow the sequence, do not skip steps, and keep the floor clean between grits. Start with a quality line such as diamond resin polishing pads for concrete and terrazzo and finish with burnishing pads for a professional gloss.
