Store steel grinding plates in a dry, heated area, wipe them with a light film of oil or anti-rust spray, stack them flat on wooden pallets, and keep silica dust off them. Humidity above 60% is what actually causes rust on the steel core, not the diamonds themselves. A few minutes of storage prep at the end of a job extends the life of every set.
The diamond segments are welded to a steel core. Rust on the core does not affect the diamonds directly, but it weakens the weld, makes the plate hard to release from the holder, and looks unprofessional in front of customers.
Our R3 round-segment shoes ships with a light rust-preventive oil film; wipe it off before first use.
