Redi-Lock and bolt-on are the two dominant attachment systems for concrete grinding shoes. Redi-Lock uses a dovetail wedge that slides in and locks with a twist; bolt-on uses two screws through the shoe into the plate. Redi-Lock is faster to change (seconds), bolt-on is more secure for heavy PCD coating removal. Neither is universally better—it depends on the machine and the job.
Redi-Lock is a Husqvarna-developed dovetail system. The grinding shoe has a trapezoidal back that slides into a matching slot on the grinding plate, then locks by rotating a cam. Tools swap in under 10 seconds with no tools. It is now an industry standard copied by HTC, Scanmaskin, and many others.

Bolt-on shoes have two (or sometimes four) countersunk screws that fasten through the shoe into the adapter plate. They take 30-60 seconds to swap with an Allen key, but the connection is rigid and does not flex even under high torque. This is the preferred system for PCD tools removing thick epoxies and coatings, where torque is extreme.
