Strip a commercial epoxy floor in two passes: PCD tooling to shave off the bulk coating, then a 30/46 metal-bond disc to clean up the residue and profile the slab. On a 500 m2 retail floor, budget one full workday with a 700-800 mm ride-on grinder and two operators. Do not try to remove epoxy with metal bond alone—it loads up in minutes.
Epoxy is a thermoset plastic. A metal-bond diamond tries to grind it, but the resin softens and sticks to the segment, loading it up within square meters. PCD (polycrystalline diamond) does not soften: it shears the epoxy off like a knife. After the bulk is gone, a light metal-bond pass removes the film residue and opens the concrete.

| Machine | PCD removal (m2/day) | Metal-bond cleanup (m2/day) |
|---|---|---|
| Single-disc 250 mm | 80-120 | 150-200 |
| Push 580 mm | 200-300 | 400-600 |
| Ride-on 800 mm | 400-700 | 800-1200 |
Up to about 2 mm of epoxy. Thicker build-ups need multiple passes.
Yes. PCD leaves a deep scratch and a light resin film. Metal-bond cleanup gives the CSP profile the new coating needs.
For small areas, yes. For 500 m2 commercial work, grinding is faster and leaves a better profile.
Commercial epoxy removal is a two-tool job: PCD for the bulk, metal bond for the profile. Plan production rates by machine size. contact JOY TECH for PCD and metal-bond tooling at factory-direct prices.
