Follow the blade's maximum RPM, use the machine guard and correct flanges, and wear eye, ear and dust protection. Never exceed the rated speed, never cut without the guard, and always keep hands clear of the cutting line.

Most blade accidents happen on the first cut of the day, when the blade, machine and operator are all being rushed through the pre-use check. Build the inspection into the start of every shift: read the label, check flanges, fit the guard and put on PPE before the motor starts. Train new crew on what a cracked or warped blade looks like, and discard any blade that has caught or stalled unexpectedly. Cutting wet or with extraction is not optional when silica dust is in the air — the blade rating controls speed, but protection controls long-term health.
