Average response time: under 24 hours

Wait 2-4 hours after lithium densifier — or until the surface is dry to the touch — then continue polishing from 800 grit. On cold, porous or heavily etched slabs, overnight (12-24 hours) is the safe choice. Polishing too early smears the densifier and blocks the chemical bond.
Lithium densifier soaks into the pores and reacts with free lime to form a hard silicate. That reaction needs time and moisture inside the slab. The densifier changes the concrete chemistry — that's why timing matters more than with a topical sealer.
| Condition | Recommended wait |
|---|---|
| Warm, dry slab (20°C+) | 2-4 hours |
| Cool or humid slab | 6-12 hours |
| Porous or etched concrete | 12-24 hours |
| Follow-up densifier coat | 24 hours before polishing |
Keep using resin polishing pads from the same set so the grit steps stay consistent.
A: Dry-to-touch is usually 2-4 hours; on warm slabs that's enough, on cold slabs wait longer.
A: Only if the floor still dusts or you want more depth — one coat before the 800 step is usually enough.
A: No — keep it dry; excess water slows the reaction and leaves streaks.
A: One coat before 800 is standard; a second coat for porous slabs, allowed to cure 24 hours.
Densifier sets the stage, timing makes the finish: wait until dry and hard, then polish 800-3000 with resin pads and burnish. For the right pads, see resin floor polishing pads and 3-inch resin pads.
