Cut concrete pipe and manholes with a laser-welded segmented diamond blade on a cut-off saw or pipe cutter. Use a 350-450 mm blade for pipe up to 600 mm diameter, cut wet when possible, and support both sides of the cut so the pipe doesn't crack. For manhole walls (150-300 mm thick), a walk-behind saw or wall saw with a 400-500 mm blade is standard. Laser-welded blades survive the rebar and aggregate in precast concrete.
| Job | Blade Size | Saw |
|---|---|---|
| Small pipe (100-300 mm) | 350 mm | Cut-off saw, pipe cutter |
| Large pipe (300-600 mm) | 400-450 mm | Heavy cut-off saw |
| Manhole wall (150-300 mm) | 400-500 mm | Walk-behind saw |
| Precast ring section | 450-500 mm | Ring saw / wall saw |
Our laser-welded concrete blade is the field standard for pipe and manhole work, with the high-horsepower version for heavily reinforced sections.
A>It works briefly, but wears out fast and throws dangerous sparks. A diamond blade lasts 50-100x longer.
A>Core-drill the four corners, then cut between with a wall saw or hand-held saw with a 400+ mm blade.
A>A laser-welded blade with a tough segment bond — brazed segments will shear off on rebar.
A>Wet is better for blade life and dust, but many field jobs run dry with extraction. Follow the manufacturer.
